Power Capture
Well I didn't think I'd start it, but I'm back behind gamemaker again. I'm approaching it a bit more organized then before. Planning on paper before hand, making lists of things before the next version (careful not to make the stuff that clogs the load time/test time). Also I'm testing less and doing more blocks of work before hand (instead of testing one thing).

The game is designed to get me back into making games but also be a playable fun experience for you. I took the concept of catch the clown and turned into into something pretty unrelated (there is something bouncing and you are controlling with the mouse).

Here's the basic idea (before version .1 was planned, so it's very shallow)

Power is the name of the game. But there are dudes who are after both power and you. Free energy is always present, but if it isn’t, it’s game over. You can destroy enemies by zapping them. They’ll come back thanks to the bunkers, but you can neutralize the bunkers with various methods temporarly. The only way to win is to get enough power to escape the level.

Granted there is more fun then it lets on. I got I think 7 different mobile enemies, haven't planned other stuff yet. Free power is your reserve source if needed. It can be used by enemies (not really concrete on that concept yet, I'll get to it). You're battling the field. It's going to be kind of progressive in that you can't destroy the enemies until a certain point. once you reach power 1000 you can create force fields that are basically awesome (but beware of putting too many- free power gets hit by these).

Release date: TBA no idea
Priority is behind those 2 tracks I still haven't started yet, but expect a demo very soon. I already have a semi fun game with just one enemy programmed, the energy, bunkers, ect. I'll upload version .1 though, so it's got a bit more.

My guitar has been an asshole lately, mostly do it being thrashed around when I'm wasted most likely. Anyways, I replaced the jack but couldn't get rid of the hum, so I started doing some reading on circuits. Well, I'm hooked on them. I want to stay up all night and instead of reading the hundreds of pages for school I want to learn about how I can use magnets to generate electricity and why.

Let's see, haven't updated in awhile...

New album status: nothing! HAHAHA! Well I've recorded maybe 40 minutes of shitty shit on cassette (fuck yeah) mostly because I don't want to release anymore one-take no-work albums. I did a small amount of work on two songs, but nothing significant. I have been playing a decent amount, and doing some vocal work (which seems to walk hand-in-hand with soul searching). Some good stuff is starting to show, although I feel like I'm drifting farther from punk, which is fine. I'll always "be punk" but I'm done with "being a punk". The influence will always be there (don't get your hopes up, I'm sure almost every track will sound like a screeching weasel rip off with how much I've been jamming them).

So guitar fixed = recordings? I can see it happening. After I get my shit on lockdown, anyways. College is a waste of time, I'm almost thinking about stopping after this semester. I love to learn, but fuck! It's expensive. With work, I really am pretty damn busy (with my "frittering away time" too..you know, doing focking nothing).

I'm trying to get in and stay in good shape. I've been working out on and off for awhile really, I'm sure close to 8 times a month, which is better than nothing. I added some leg work out and tai chi, so it's pretty good. I'm starting to "shape up" which is pretty bad ass (and this is on this blog why? jesus...)

Anyways, enough pretending to talk to people, down to business.

November goals (mostly in terms of stuff that effects you, the reader):
-Get As-Bs (at this rate 3 As and 1 B are possible) sorry, had to list it!
-Have at least 2 tracks "rolling" meaning, some work has gone into them and they're in the "master plan"...so written, played, on cassette in some form, you know, theeeeeeeeeeeeeere!!!!!!
-Do more webstuff? Yeah right! Seriously, I'm only getting on this blog for the thrill of writing down some thoughts.
-Game work? I've been thinking about making games and apps again. Yeesh...
-BLAHBLAHBLAH yeah, basically I'd start talking about all this shit I'm going to try to do but I'm not going to do it. Like comics, writing, whatever. If I do it, I'm damn sure it'll be here (if just thinking about it makes such a mark).

So basically, 2 tracks "rolling". Maybe I'll build a cheapo effects pedal and put on here how I did it. That'd be cool.

So until November END, I probably won't be back (unless the tracks are done or other worthy news) I just like coming back on so if anyone does read this, they know I'm still "working".

The whole end of ask yourself maneuver may not happen, I'm not really sure (it doesn't really matter actually, I'm going to shift my efforts towards maybe making music instead of what to name my tunes...ha)

I recorded a handful of folk songs (although half got screwed up somehow) under the whole "Tim Lindsted" tag. So that's what those are.

I got facebook again, if you know me then you can find me. I figured as long as I'm not letting myself be chained to it it's fine. It's nice to read about people I never see.

I'm damn busy with school and work, and it's all self imposed. I'm trying to get ahead now instead of scurrying around and basically getting fucked in a few months. This blog is pretty pointless (both this post and it's entirety).

So as of just this second I'm going to kind of drift away from all this crap. The whole "I'm posting my lack of progress" is kind of funny. Speaking of crap, dumpster baby is hilarious. Sometimes I think about going into film like that. Anyways, the next time I post up here it will be something of worth. I just wanted to "end it" on something not so pointless (well...ha, again I'm full of contradictions and ironies today).

Download the albums! Temps is pretty funny and has some noteworthy tracks! Acceptance is a good eh, I don't know...I like it though, and the tracks Girls, Great Day, Sold Your Youth for a bitch that puts out, and You say a lot of things but you're still a pussy.

My plan of action on the next album is once again not having one (seeing, well hearing, is believing...ha!) But in all seriousness, I've developed some..."vocal techniques" which, funny as it may sound, is actually more of a lack of technique. Expect better sounding vocals-at least easier to understand (even when I'm doing the whole punk thing). I'm probably going to chop my do for a hawk again, it's a fun cycle of chopping it off, then after awhile it starts to eat some of my free thinking time which is fucking weird. I guess it's more than just hair ha ha! Hilarious pointless information. Or not, who cares (apparently me to put it in this blog)

I'm ending Ask Yourself, well not really.

I'm going to start just crediting myself (As in, all albums and shit after now are going to be Tim Lindsted instead of Ask Yourself). I thought it was kind of stupid having like a band name but not a band. I'm keeping all Ask Yourself albums the way they are. I'm not rejecting them or whatever, I'm just not going to go by it anymore. I recorded a track I called This Long Road that's up on Last.fm under Tim Lindsted. It's kind of an acoustic old countryish folk style song or whatever. It's like 9 minutes long of solid shit (good shit).

Oh yeah, happy 20th to me.

If anyone has been trying to comment and have found that it's not possible it's because it's probably disabled. I was getting spammed big time. Once I find a way to prevent this (even the built in verification shit doesn't work). They'll be back. Hopefully before classes start (24th)

I've decided to upload "Temps" because I just realized that it was over 80 minutes. Granted, most of it "live noise" like me spitting and swearing. Nothing to really post. School is about to start again, another brutal semester but this time with two jobs. I jammed a few songs a few days, pretty funny soft rock kind of shit. Made myself and my roommate laugh. I got high hopes for these last few weeks. Maybe an EP. I want to up my recording skills, so maybe I'll actually do some of that this month. My voice is a notch above shot, so that sucks. More water and less cigarettes is probably the best medicine. I'm going to try and do some writing tomorrow, maybe a recording. A whole week late, but here it is. I was out of town and then hell, I just got lazy. My goal right now is to record 5 songs (finished songs too) before I go back to school. I figure I can release them with the 6 or so rough ones to make a decent album. The "Temps" album as I call it is already 45 minutes long, but a lot of it can be trimmed and hell, it's improv tracks (Actually there are 3 improv and 4 written tracks, so I'm doing better). A few of the songs I consider the best that I've done so far.

In other news, I may be getting back to doing comics. Yeah, more "I'm thinking this" crap and no actual results. By tomorrow I will have something worthwhile to post up here. Character chart, song, something.

Alright, I'm going to at least start a monthly task of posting "news" on the blog. I'll go for the first Monday of every month.

Anyways, here's what's up recently.

I released "Improv Days: Give nothing get nothing" it hasn't really gotten any feedback and I'm not really worried about that, most of the tracks were already released. I don't plan on distributing the hard copy any time soon, except to people I know. If you're interested, email me at radmetalmonkATgmailDOTcom.

I'm working two jobs again, so my time is a bit limited. Honestly though it's only like 50 hours a week. I've just been kind of lazy, and this site is on the bottom of my priority list (I must make content first).

I've recorded about an hour of material since my last release. So there's definitely been an increase in my productivity. Some of the songs were even written. These are just more rough tracks that may or may not see the light of day. They're not bad, I'm starting to get my "own" voice. That's fantastic news. Granted I haven't done anything in about a month, but I'm getting back on the guitar improvement train.

I've also started learning drums on my little electric set. I think it's one of my biggest weaknesses, that is, having poor rhythm skills.

Anyways, that's all. Not really any idea on when the next release will be. Hopefully soon, probably be some this month (new recordings, I'm sure one day I'll at least put two of my recent tracks up).

Well, I failed like many attempting to quit smokers do. I didn't have the right drive in the beginning. I have to say that the patch worked well those 2 days I used it haha. Pricewise, they're really not that expensive...say that 7 costs $15 and a pack of cigs costs $4, and if you smoke a pack a day you're saving money. I don't smoke that many though, so it's about even. I'm going to use the rest of them though, so not to waste money...

However,

Well, never thought this would happen but kind of spur of the moment...

I'm quitting smoking for as long as the patch program works at least (I'm setting a short term goal, it's easier then thinking I'm quitting forever).

I love to smoke cigarettes, but I smoke too many. I don't like the whole habit thing. I don't want to deprive myself of the joy, 3-4 daily isn't too bad, but half a pack+ is kind of stupid. There are those days, but mostly it's just habit.

Here are my "options"
A.) quit for good (I'm 19, it's kind of early really. C'mon give me a little time to 'die' a little)
B.)Keep doing what I've been doing (smokity smoke smoke...no good. Screws up my throat and lungs to no end)
C.)Keep on patches (this patch feels pretty good. I want to smoke, but I don't need to. Nice!) Mega expensive though ($15 for like 7...granted, that's $60 a month so $720 a year? About $100 more than cigs)
D.)My trial thingy (hopefully get used to less nicotine, and keep it down.)

Today I almost made a fatal mistake, in more ways than one...I almost mega sold out (sold out what, this empty website? You'd be surprised...). There's lots of ways to make some money online. I'm not really knowledgeable in this area (I think many claim to be, but they're all actually SOLD the same information...yikes). Some obvious methods:
-Advertising (many types, let's just say text ads/banner ads/ect on a normal, "real" website)
-Royalties (creating something and letting other use it in some way for compensation, sometimes this is a fantastic "honest" method)
-Commission (pitching other people products, can easily ruin a website if done "wrongly")
-Surveys (busy web work really, you're still turning X time into X money basically, you're better off working a real job)
-Sales (actually creating a product, be it tangible or not, and straight up selling it yourself, again, a "honest" method usually)
-Donations (probably the "most honest", if people see that you "deserve" some money, they'll give you some)
-Others? (maybe I'll digress, it's an improv article ha)
